Cache Regional Theatre holds 1-2 large musicals each year in the Ellen Eccles Theatre. Auditions held mid-September. Upcoming productions include Ragtime.

Ragtime -April 12-14, 16

This epic new musical paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life in turn of the century America. Based on E. L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, Ragtime intertwines three distinct stories that poignantly illustrate history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. This momentous musical is sure to inspire actors and audiences alike!

The Cache Valley Civic Ballet (CVCB) company has been performing since 1982. The company has a repertoire of many full length ballets which are performed in Logan, Utah's beautiful Ellen Eccles Theatre. The Cache Valley School of Ballet also holds one year-end performance in the Ellen Eccles Theatre. This performance is intended to highlight what the students have accomplished in their classes.

CVCB is the official school of the Cache Valley Civic Ballet. It has been open since 1986. The school offers classical ballet training to members of the community of all ages and skill levels, and also offers classes in pilates, tap, and creative movement.  The Cache Valley Civic Ballet is pleased to present three ballets during our 2005-2006 season. Kick off our season with our annual presentation of the Nutcracker. This is our 23nd annual production of The Nutcracker. Next we will be performing Peter and the Wolf and then in the spring the classic ballet Sleeping Beauty, with Tchaikovsky's familiar score performed by a live orchestra.

The company consists of about fifty auditioned dancers from the Northern Utah region. Additional parts in The Nutcracker and other ballets are filled through public auditions. The CVCB Company is a civic organization, open to all serious ballet dancers from any school. The Junior Company consists of dancers from age 11 to 15, with apprenticeships available. The Senior Company has dancers ages 15 and above who have achieved greater performing ability.

Unicorn Theatre

Website:

Unicorn Theatre is all about nurturing talent and building self-esteem. It is about making live theatre an integral part of the everyday lives of the children in our valley.

Unicorn is 42 years old! We are Cache Valley’s young peoples’ theatre, both for and by children, which makes us unique.

People sometimes mistakenly think our classes are just for a talented few. Not so! Our program is open to any child who wants to join us.

Our curriculum consists of three parts:

1) Creative Drama Classes: Held once a week for 8 weeks. These are the starting point, the training ground for the young actors in our Unicorn Company. They are not performance classes designed for an audience. Although we create plays in the structure of our classes they are not performance oriented. They are designed to teach children to think on their feet and to value and share their own ideas without self consciousness.

2) Saturday Matinee plays in our own cozy studio space in the Bullen Art Center. Called “Pillow Theatre” because the children in the audience sit upon, or hug, pillows while they watch plays, very close to the action. “Pillow” plays happen every Saturday at 2PM. one play is in rehearsal while another is performing every Saturday for a month.

3) We produce two Annual Mainstage productions: a spring production for the Logan City and Cache County school districts. The children of 2 or 3 grade levels are bussed to the play. (We alternate grades each year with USU’s Theatre Department). There are also public performances of each so all children can see both plays. A second play is performed each year at Christmas in the Caine Lyric or Ellen Eccles Theatres.

Utah Festival Opera   Website: www.ufoc.org
Utah Festival Opera is located 80 minutes north of Salt Lake City in Cache Valley, a setting of spectacular mountain scenery. The five-week festival includes four productions of grand opera, operetta, light opera, and/or seldom-seen Broadway-style musical theater. Productions are performed in revolving repertory so visitors can enjoy all four shows during a two- or three-day stay.

The festival takes place in Logan's Ellen Eccles Theatre, an 1100-seat European-style theater featuring neo-classical design. Built in 1923, it has been exquisitely restored to state-of-the-art theatrical capability.

Utah Festival Opera's season also includes orchestral and vocal concerts and a full schedule of audience enrichment activities such as production seminars, literary seminars, pre-performance discussions, and backstage tours.
